Lothar Matthaus feels that Inter Milan have been the most consistent team in Serie A for four years, and Yann Bisseck is “special.”
The legendary former German international spoke to German broadcaster Sky Sports Deutschland via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League next month.
The Italian and German league leaders are on a collision course in the quarterfinals after brushing aside Feyenoord and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.
Legendary former midfielder Lothar Matthaus was a representative of both Inter and Bayern during his playing career.
The 1990 World Cup winner spent more time playing for the German club.
However, the four seasons that Matthaus spent in a Nerazzurri shirt represented him at the absolute peak of his powers.
Therefore, Matthaus retains a strong association with Inter.
It was while he was at the San Siro that Matthaus won the Ballon d’Or in 1990.
Naturally, the meeting of Inter and Bayern in European competition is always a big occasion for Matthaus.
“I can’t wait to watch every match,” said Matthaus. “But this one means something even more to me.”

“Both teams are top of the table in their respective leagues. Their quality is evident.”
“In my opinion, Inter have been the most consistent team in Italy over the last four years,” said Matthaus.
“They’re very consistent, disciplined, and have good positioning on the pitch,” he added.
Meanwhile, iconic former German international Matthaus also gave his thoughts on a new Die Mannschaft call-up.
Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck’s performances at club level have finally earned him a spot in his senior national team.
And Matthaus said that “he absolutely deserves the call-up.”
The former Inter midfielder called Yann Bisseck “one of the best centre-backs in the Italian top flight” and “a young, dynamic player.”
“To play in Inter’s defense, you need to have something special,” added Matthaus. “He’s made a great impression on me.”
