Inter Milan are reportedly interested in a summer swoop for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, and they hold a significant advantage that could help them land him.
Rashford is expected to leave United permanently this summer after a successful January loan move to Aston Villa.
The forward switched from United after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim, who regularly left him out of his matchday squads, citing training and selection reasons.
The England international has enjoyed an uptick in form at Villa, notching an impressive four goals and six assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.
Despite his resurgence, Villa are understood to still be undecided as to whether or not they will trigger the £40m option to buy Rashford permanently. At the moment, he is sidelined with a hamstring injury and is not expected to play any more games this term.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Villa are not Rashford’s preferred transfer destination despite the good fortunes he has enjoyed under Unai Emery.
Rashford’s top choice is Barcelona, although it was stated the Spanish giants are unwilling to meet United’s valuation.
Rashford is also understood to want Champions League football – a factor that may rule Villa out of the race for his signature in the upcoming window.
SpazioInter now claim that Inter Milan have become serious contenders to sign Rashford, and with their place in next season’s Champions League already secured, they are in a strong position.
Inter are said to be “already working” on bolstering their ranks and Rashford has popped up on their radar once again, after exploring a deal for him in January.
SpazioInter point out, “Inter could forcefully come back into play [for Rashford] in the next transfer market even if it is not an easy task at all, considering the figures at stake.”
The report adds that Inter could “jump into pole position” for the 27-year-old if they press forward with their pursuit.
