Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta refuses to hide his admiration for Simone Inzaghi amid the club’s quadruple quest.

During an interview at the Gazzetta Sports Award via FCInterNews, Marotta admitted being the Nerazzurri president is an honor.

“Being president is an honor, and doing it at Inter makes it even more special,” he stated. “My career started at Atalanta, and then I moved to Sampdoria.

“I was lucky to start in the provinces and reach teams like Juventus and Inter, which are the best.

“The nine years I spent at Sampdoria were crucial. A football team is, I think, for many, a private company of public interest.

“What I focus on is the enhancement of competence. Often, it’s said that in the world of sports, everything is easy.”

Marotta has played a key role in the club’s resurgence to elite status in Serie A and Europe since swapping Juventus for Inter in 2018.

During his six-year regime, Inter have won two league titles and contested the UEFA Champions League final in 2023.

Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta Speaks Highly of Simone Inzaghi

Led by Simone Inzaghi, they won their 20th Scudetto last term.

“Simone has the advantage of having been a player and understands the dynamics of the locker room,” Marotta claimed.

“He has grown in all aspects, he was good before, and now he’s excellent.

“He should be counted among the best coaches and has gained experience, and this makes him well-prepared.”

However, they’ll likely need to fend off Atalanta to reclaim the crown this season.

“Atalanta is a global model that supports the idea that it’s not true that in sports, the team that spends the most always wins,” Marotta added.

“Atalanta is a virtuous model. Thanks also to their Europa League victory, Atalanta has gained a winning mentality.

“I’m sure they will manage the pressures of being the pacesetter, while we are the hunters.”

Finally, Marotta had to say a few words about Antonio Conte amid a raging word war between former associates.

“He’s won a lot, he’s good, and he, like Simone Inzaghi and Gasperini, lives for football,” the Inter chief said.

“The coach matters a lot, but let’s not forget that behind a great team, there’s always a great club. Atalanta is a great example.”
