FC Internazionale Milano and the entire Inter world join in mourning the passing of Jair da Costa and, in remembering him, extend their deepest condolences to his family.

Talent, speed and class made Jair a Nerazzurri legend. Wearing the number 7 on his back, he was unstoppable on the right wing for the "Grande Inter" side: with his bursts of speed and flair, he lit up San Siro and helped drive his teammates to their most memorable triumphs.

Born in Santo André, Brazil, on 9 July 9 1940, Jair forever tied his name to Inter, for whom he played for nine seasons between 1962 and 1972. During his long spell at the Nerazzurri, he made 260 appearances, scored 69 goals and won an impressive eight trophies: four Serie A titles, two European Cups and two Intercontinental Cups.

His name is undoubtedly etched into Nerazzurri history: he was a key figure in unforgettable triumphs such as the Scudetto of the First Star in 1966 and the European Cup victory in 1965, with Jair scoring the winning goal against Benfica in the final at San Siro.

An eternal champion who will forever remain in the memory of all Inter fans.
