Gunning-Williams makes impact in Under-23s cameo

Lenna Gunning-Williams featured for England Under-23s at Doncaster Rovers’ Eco-Power Stadium as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sweden.

The young forward was a late second half substitute for Emma Coates’ side, replacing Sara Brasero in first minute of stoppage time, and she made a quick impact, winning a penalty for the Young Lionesses.

Katie Robinson saw her spot-kick saved by Sweden’s Sofia Hjern to secure the win for the visitors in Group B of the Women’s Under-23 European competition.

Defender Ella Morris didn’t feature in the clash against Sweden having been withdrawn from the Under-23s group after picking up an injury in the goalless draw with Norway last Friday.
