Italian journalist Xavier Jacobelli has blasted Milan for ‘rollercoaster’ performances at the start of Paulo Fonseca’s tenure. Though we’re only ten rounds into the new Serie A season, there’s a feeling the Scudetto is already slipping through Rossoneri’s grasp.
Milan slumped to a dismal 2-0 home defeat to pacesetters Napoli on Tuesday. Despite having a game in hand, Fonseca’s charges languish a staggering 11 points adrift of Antonio Conte’s table-toppers. As a result, Jacobelli believes the Scudetto race is already out of their hands.
Consistency has been a glaring issue for Milan this season. Fonseca’s frosty relationship with star players such as Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez has only aggravated the situation.
“It doesn’t find it also because when you leave behind troubled days and record absences like those of Gabbia, Theo, and Reijnders, plus you also miss Pulisic it is complicated,” Jacobelli said, as reported by MilanNews.
“Then there is the question of Leao, everyone expects that extra bit of play that he lacked at the start of the season. Milan went into the ring with one hand tied while facing an opponent in extraordinary condition.
