FC Barcelona have a crucial match awaiting them on Sunday in La Liga as they face Atletico Madrid. Both of these teams are contenders for the league title this season, a fact that will make this tie even more interesting than it already is because of the quality that these two teams possess.
The build-up to this game has been quite lively, and one Blaugrana player, Marc Casado, has already given his opinion on this upcoming game.
However, he was not the only one to do so, as Mundo Deportivo reports that the Dutch midfielder and Barcelona captain Frenkie de Jong also previewed this game in a recent interview with the club’s official media.
The Dutchman admitted that this is going to be a difficult but important game for his side:
“We’re in good shape, we’re in a good moment. We’re playing well, winning most of our matches, and we’re confident. Atlético is a top team, and it’s going to be tough. Every match is different, but Atlético is a top team.”
“You have to stay focused for 90 minutes or more because they can hurt you at any moment. It’s very important, they are a direct rival. If we win, we gain three points on them and add them to our tally. It’s a very important match.”
The Barcelona midfielder also gave an update on his physical condition as he revealed: “I no longer think about my ankle during matches.”
After a slow start to the season, mainly under the effects of his ankle injury, the Dutch star has become highly important for Hansi Flick in recent games.
Hopefully, he will be able to put in another good show in the upcoming crunch game against Atletico Madrid and help his Barcelona team get a win that can end up tilting the balance in their favor in the tight league race.
