Manchester City’s Jack Grealish was allegedly ‘slapped in the face’ by a man next to Manchester United’s Old Trafford tunnel, a new report has revealed.

It is the latest development to emerge concerning fan behaviour at Old Trafford after Pep Guardiola was outspoken after the contest at the weekend regarding chants aimed in the direction of Phil Foden throughout the match.

The Manchester City forward was targeted by large sections of Manchester United fans during the 0-0 draw with chants concerning his mother, of which Guardiola labelled ‘classless’ during his post-match press conference.

“Lack of class,” Guardiola told reporters. “But it’s not United, it’s the people, you know? We are so exposed in the screen in world football – managers, owners, and football players especially.”

The Manchester City manager continued, “Honestly, I don’t understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil, it’s a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed.”

Now, in the latest set of events to emerge from Old Trafford in the 196th Manchester derby meeting, new information has detailed a horrific physical attack on Manchester City’s Jack Grealish immediately after the game.

That is according to an exclusive report from MailSport’s Mike Keegan, who reveals that a 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault after Jack Grealish was allegedly slapped in the face by a fan at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

It is detailed that the England international was exiting the field following the 0-0 draw between the two sides when he was ‘beckoned over’ by a member of the Stretford End crowd next to the tunnel at Old Trafford, before being assaulted.

The man in question will appear before Manchester magistrates in July, while the report also confirms that Jack Grealish is not thought to have been seriously injured following the attack at Manchester United.

Both Manchester City and Manchester United have declined to comment thanks to the live investigation from Greater Manchester Police, while United are said to be ‘working closely’ with authorities.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police told MailSport, “Alfie Holt, 20, of Haven Drive, Droylsden, has been charged with assault. He will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court. This charge relates to an incident which took place at Old Trafford Football Club yesterday.”

There has been no public comment on the matter made by Jack Grealish or those close to him as of yet, although Pep Guardiola may be quizzed on the matter when he next faces the media at the end of the week.

The Manchester City manager is due to take questions on Friday afternoon prior to his side returning to Premier League action with a Saturday lunchtime clash against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.
