Joe Cole praises recruitment team at UCL club and urges Chelsea to sign their striker | OneFootball

Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole has been praising the recruitment of a Champions League club and says Chelsea should sign their striker.

The news comes off the back of Chelsea only managing to draw 2-2 at home with Ipswich Town on Sunday, a team who are destined to be in the Championship again next season.

One BBC pundit has pinned the blame on the players for the draw on Sunday, saying that they have to take a long hard look at themselves after that poor performance.

And head coach Enzo Maresca has also picked out two of his players for making some mistakes in the game which he believes was not good enough and cost them.

Overall though it was so poor, and blame really must be shared between the head coach, the manager, and those who have built an unbalanced squad at Chelsea that severely lacks quality experience and balance.

Chelsea are hoping to get back into the Champions League for next season but this season they’ve had to make do with watching. Dortmund are one side who have done well again in the competition, getting to the quarter finals. Although they are now out after being beaten 5-4 on aggregate by Barcelona, they did beat them 3-1 in the second leg after a hat trick from striker Serhou Guirassy.

Guirassy would be good for Chelsea

The striker only arrived at Dortmund in the summer but Cole says he would be a good striker for Chelsea.

He said on TNT Sports: “The recruitment team at Dortmund are incredible. They have some system there because players feel at home there. Guirassy, how much would he go for now? They will be queuing up for him I’m sure.” Cole also added: “I think Chelsea, he can play that role. Arsenal, maybe. He’s got that ability. If you’re putting the ball in the back of the net at that rate, you can pick your club and pick your money.”
