One journalist is absolutely baffled by one decision Chelsea made during the winter transfer window as they allowed a player to depart.
Aadam Patel of The Daily Mail has been reviewing Chelsea’s defeat against Brighton on Saturday evening to go out of The FA Cup, and he also touches on what was a very bad transfer window for The Blues.
The transfer window closed a couple of weeks back now and it was a very bland and strange one for Chelsea. They only made one signing and he is a player who is just expected to play as a deep backup option this season and then probably go on loan in the summer.
Other than that, Chelsea just loaned a bunch of players out with the only permanent one being Cesare Casadei to Torino in the end.

Chelsea loaned Joao Felix to AC Milan on transfer deadline day, and Patel thinks that was a bad call.
Patel says:
‘Increasingly, the decision to offload Joao Felix, who scored on his AC Milan debut last week, seems crazy even if Maresca insisted that Chelsea didn’t miss him.’
He also went on to touch on the fact Chelsea have not won a trophy since 2021, an absence that never happened under Roman Abramovich.
He said:
‘By the time the whistle went [vs Brighton], most of the travelling support had headed for the exits. Under the ownership of Roman Abramovich, Chelsea never went more than two years without silverware but for now, their wait since 2021 goes on.
‘That’s probably the kind of week Maresca and co need before they return to Brighton this week. Otherwise, they risk dropping out of the top four.’
