Juventus forward Timothy Weah could be on the sidelines until 2025 after suffering a thigh injury in Tuesday’s match against Cagliari. According to the club’s official statement, the United States international underwent further checks on Wednesday to understand the gravity of the problem.
“Following the muscular problem suffered on Tuesday night in the Coppa Italia match against Cagliari, Timothy Weah underwent clinical and instrumental examinations this morning at J|Medical, which revealed a low-grade injury of the femoral biceps of the right thigh,” the report read.
Weah came on as a late substitute in a 4-0 demolition of Cagliari in Tuesday’s Coppa Italia tie. However, shortly after assisting Nicolas Gonzalez for the fourth, he had to leave the pitch. It’s the third minor fitness setback he has suffered this season.
Despite sporadic injury issues, Weah has enjoyed a remarkable campaign. Indeed, he has racked up four goals and four assists across 18 appearances in all competitions. That’s a significant improvement on his maiden season at Juventus.
As things stand, Juventus will be without Weah for Sunday’s trip to Stadio Brianteo to take on relegation-threatened Monza. More importantly, he’ll likely skip the upcoming top-four six-pointer against Fiorentina, joining a growing injury list at the Allianz Stadium.
On the bright side, he should be at Thiago Motta’s disposal for a mouth-watering Supercoppa Italiana semi-final tie against fierce rivals Milan on January 3. Juventus will lock horns with their eternal adversaries in Riyadh at the beginning of the new calendar year.
