Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of signing Kevin Danso after the defender decided to pull out of a potential move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
That is according to Sky Sports, which has reported that after learning that Tottenham are interested in him, Danso made a complete U-turn regarding a potential transfer to Wolves and is now about to join the North London club.
Wolves had arranged for a medical for the Lens defender on Sunday morning and were confident of getting a deal done.
However, after their 2-0 win against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday evening, Wolves were reportedly told that “Danso had chosen to move to Spurs, after the north London club began late talks with the player”.
Tottenham reportedly wanted to sign Fikayo Tomori and held talks with AC Milan, but the England international centre-back decided to stay at the Serie A club.
According to The i Paper, Tottenham will pay Lens £21 million in transfer fee for Danso, who had a loan spell at Southampton in 2019-20.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are the two main centre-backs for Tottenham.
While Romero is one of the best central defenders in the world, Van de Ven is extremely fast and has a lot of potential.
The problem is that Romero and Van de Ven have had injury problems this season.
The Argentina international is still on the sidelines, while Van de Ven has only just returned from injury.

It has been so dire at the back for Tottenham that head coach Postecoglou has had to play Archie Gray in central defence despite the youngster being a midfielder by trade who played at right-back for Leeds United last season.
Tottenham needed a new centre-back for the short term, and while Danso would be a good fix for now, one cannot expect the 26-year-old to break the Romero-Van de Ven partnership in the long run.
Danso would be a good option to have as a back-up for Spurs in the coming years.
