Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has on Saturday evening secured for himself a long-awaited personal benchmark.

As much comes owing to his exploits in Real’s showdown with arch rivals Barcelona.

The latest edition of El Clásico is of course currently playing out, in the finale of the Copa del Rey at La Cartuja in Seville.

As things stand, the sides are deadlocked at two goals apiece, amid a pulsating back-and-forth affair.

The aforementioned Kylian Mbappé was forced to make do with a place on the bench from the off in the clash, after a recent spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

After being introduced to proceedings at the interval, though, the Frenchman wasted little time in making his presence felt.

Instrumental in Real Madrid recovering from a goal down, Mbappé put Los Blancos momentarily in front courtesy of a moment of individual brilliance.

Stepping up to take responsibility of a set-piece just outside the penalty area, the 26-year-old directed an unstoppable effort home off the inside of the post.

And in the process, Mbappé broke a career-long wait, in scoring directly from a free-kick (his strike against Leganés late last month was laid off).
