Kylian Mbappé’s start at Real Madrid has been far from smooth since his free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The Frenchman’s challenges in Spain appear to be increasing.
The 25-year-old had a tough debut in El Clásico on October 26, with Real Madrid suffering a heavy 4-0 loss to Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu. Just days later, the struggles continued as Los Blancos were beaten 3-1 by AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
On Wednesday, Mbappé had the opportunity to shine against Liverpool, especially with Vinicius Junior absent, which allowed him to play in his preferred role. However, the match quickly turned into a nightmare for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

Mbappé not only failed to score but also missed a crucial second-half penalty, highlighting the frustration of the evening. While talking to El Chiringuito, former Real Madrid standout Guti noted that he still believes in the Frenchman and that the Spanish side cannot make any drastic change that could affect the player’s confidence.
“The truth is, he looks low on confidence, timid, almost… I think even before taking the penalty, he looked a bit scared,” Guti said. “You could tell he was just waiting for the referee to blow the whistle so he could take it. So, in that sense, I think… Surely he’s the first one who isn’t happy with his performance and wants to do more.
“Of course, taking him out would be the worst option, but protecting him is important. And I believe he’s in the best place for that. Florentino [Perez], the club, and [Carlo] Ancelotti will all protect him because we all believe in him. I believe in him.”
Soon, the argument about adaptation will fade, and people will begin to wonder if Mbappé’s dream transfer could end up being a nightmare.
