Kyogo's Rennes nightmare gets worse amid Celtic return links

Kyogo has endured a difficult time since leaving Celtic to join Rennes in the winter transfer window. The Japanese international has barely gotten chances with the Ligue 1 side. In their most recent outing, a 3-0 win over Angers, manager Habib Beye waited until the 91st minute of the game to bring the striker off the bench.
Kyogo has been stuck making cameo appearances off the bench for Rennes. There have also been occasions when he has been left as an unused substitute.
For a long time, it was believed that Kyogo was unlucky as Jorge Sampaoli was sacked as manager just days after the Japanese forward signed with Rennes. Of course, that kind of a change is never helpful to a player.
But now, it looks like Sampaoli might not have had a lot of say in signing Kyogo in the first place. Instead, it was the sports director making the calls. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the former Argentina national team manager said:
"The owner of the club is a very important person in France and, frankly, the club was not up to the expectations that I had compared to the market."The sports director decided to make a transfer window that had nothing to do with what we needed."We preferred to cut the bridges. I could not represent a team which I had not chosen the players in the winter transfer window."We even talked about players who have already played with us to change the story more easily, but we were not listened to."
Of course, this has been one of the most debated topics in modern football. The little say that most managers have when it comes to the construction of a squad.
There are two ways to look at it. First, most managers do not spend a long time in a particular job these days. So, it might be impossible to rebuild a squad every time there is a managerial change.
That being said, there is another way to look at it. Managers always do their best when they have a squad that suits their style of football. Perhaps it is because squads are being constructed by sports directors that they are struggling to remain at a club for long.
No matter what the case, it is hard to imagine that Kyogo can turn things around at Rennes, considering the situation he finds himself. Thus, the Japanese international might have to move once again in the summer. There has been some speculation about a return to Celtic. Could it be on the cards?
