The Athletic’s transfer expert David Ornstein has been speaking on Chelsea’s transfer plans the weekend just gone as we enter the final week.

There are just 7 days remaining in this January transfer window now, and it has got to the point in the window when it is now or never. And for Chelsea, in terms of new arrivals at least, it looks like it could be ‘never’ as the days go on and the news stays as quiet as it has been the last few days.

We hear all sorts of rumours and plans that Chelsea are making or trying. We have even heard this morning that they are in pole position to sign Liam Delap, although that will be for the summer, and now RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is ‘one to watch’ for Chelsea this week.

But in terms of any advancements, we are hearing absolutely nothing right now.

Alejandro Garnacho is another player they could push for this week, even though that one hasn’t exactly excited the Chelsea fan base. But he is of interest and Chelsea could finally send that offer in to sign him before the window is up.

The journalist has been speaking this weekend on Chelsea’s plans, and he mentions the Manchester United winger and Chelsea’s intentions.

“There have been enquiries from Chelsea [for Garnacho], but we don’t know if it is going to materialise. I would expect it to go down pretty late in the window, and there could be some last-minute deadline activity.”

I can only see this one materialising if United want Christopher Nkunku and they can do some kind of player trade deal here, which would have to be an unofficial swap of course.
