Chelsea don’t want to lose midfielder Andrey Santos this summer despite interest from Bayern Munich according to reports.

The Blues agreed a deal to sign Santos from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama worth around £13m, with the Brazilian spending the remainder of the 2022/2023 campaign back on loan in Brazil.

Santos is one of a number of signings from South America, with Chelsea really targeting that market under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership.

Chelsea don’t want to lose Santos

Santos impressed in pre-season under Mauricio Pochettino, but the decision was taken to loan him to Nottingham Forest, which in theory seemed a great move.

However, it turned out to be a disaster as he barely kicked a ball and was recalled and sent to Strasbourg, where after a slow start he put in some impressive performances.

There were suggestions Santos could be part of Enzo Maresca’s squad this season, but once again he was sent to Strasbourg.

The 20-year-old has excelled in Ligue 1 this season, where he’s been one of the best midfielders in the league, and Chelsea are said to be very happy with his development.

Liam Rosenior has been full of praise for Santos, who has scored eight goals in 24 appearances in all competitions, with Strasbourg pushing to qualify for European football.

Santos’ performances haven’t gone unnoticed and Bayern Munich are said to be interested in the Brazilian, but journalist Uriel Iugt has provided an update on the situation.

He took to X.com and said:

“Andrey Santos ready to return to #Chelsea in June. He will be part of the squad and will be considered an important player next season.

It’s likely a lot of fans won’t believe that until they see Santos in a Blue shirt after the window is closed, but it looks like Chelsea have a top talent on their hands.
