Lazio are reportedly preparing to sit at the table with the agent of Michael Folorunsho, as a transfer to the Italian capital could be on the cards again.
The 26-year-old spent three of his formative years with the Biancocelesti before embarking on different career chapters. The midfielder has been on Napoli’s books since 2019, but spent the past five campaigns on loan at various clubs, before finally making a name for himself in Serie A at Hellas Verona under the guidance of Marco Baroni.
Hence, Lazio were keen to bring Folorunsho back to Formello last summer, but couldn’t find an agreement with Napoli. And despite penning a new contract with the Partenopei in the summer, he has been a mere benchwarmer at Antonio Conte’s court, only making three Serie A appearances off the bench.
But according to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile could reignite their interest in their former player ahead of the January transfer session, as Baroni’s squad still lacks a midfielder. Gaetano Castrovilli has been struggling with physical problems, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru hasn’t convinced in the double pivot.
The source claims Lazio have scheduled a meeting with agent Mario Giuffredi who also represents Mattia Zaccagni and Elseid Hysaj over the next few weeks. The report is certain that Folorunsho’s future will be one of the topics of discussion.
The newspaper considers the Italian as an ideal profile for the role due to his rapport with Baroni, in addition to his youth-product status, which would allow the club to register him on the list without having to drop another player.
