Lazio are reportedly keeping tabs on Napoli winger Cyril Ngonge who could become a late January target for the club if Loum Tchaouna ends up leaving.

The Background

The Biancocelesti signed the 21-year-old Frenchman from Salernitana last summer, but has yet to establish himself as a regular starter in Marco Baroni’s lineup, as Gustav Isaksen remains the first choice on the right wing. Tchaouna has only contributed with two goals and one assist across all competitions this term.

Lazio Consider Cyril Ngonge as Possible Replacement for Loum Tchaouna

In recent days, Bologna have emerged as a potential destination for the France U21 star. According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Emilians are seriously interested in the Lazio summer signing, and the two clubs have already made contact.

So if Tchaouna were to seal a transfer to the Renato Dall’Ara, only then would Lazio consider launching a concrete attempt to land Ngonge. The 24-year-old made a name for himself in Serie A when he cemented himself as Hellas Verona’s main talisman between January 2023 and January 2024 when Napoli poached for his services.

Tough Times in Naples

Nevertheless, the Belgian has been starving for playing time at Antonio Conte’s court, only making eight Serie A appearances this term, only one as a starter. But as the source explains, this operation would also depend on Napoli’s transfer dealings.

The Serie A leaders have sold Khvicha Kvaratskehlia to Paris Saint-Germain, so they’re unlikely to offload another winger unless they manage to bring in at least one replacement (possibly Alejandro Garnacho or Karim Adeyemi). Pedulla adds that Verona are also keen to bring their former star back to the Bentegodi.

Gustav Isaksen Set to Stay

On another note, the journalist expects Gustav Isaksen to stay at Lazio at least for the rest of the season, as no concrete developments have been noted on this particular front despite some rumours earlier in the month.
