Leeds United are hoping that they will be able to persuade Aston Villa to loan them Louie Barry, who is currently at Stockport County, also on loan.

It’s no wonder that the all whites are interested in Louie Barry as the 21-year-old sharp shooter already has 15 goals in all competitions this season (transfermarkt).

However, despite the forward not seemingly being good enough for the Midlands-based outfit, it would appear Unai Emery and his staff have yet to make a definitive decision on what they should do next.

Leeds playing a waiting game over Louie Barry

It was previously reported that Premier League strugglers, Leicester City, were in pole position to sign Barry, however, a jump back up to the English top-flight at this point could be a bridge too far for the youngster.

Former Villa striker, Stan Collymore, certainly isn’t fond of the way in which Barry is being treated, and believes it sends a wider message to young players wanting to make their way in the game.

From Leeds point of view, it seems that all they can do for the moment is play a waiting game.

“Villa haven’t made a definitive decision,” transfer expert, Graeme Bailey, told Leeds United.News.

“I don’t think the player has either. Obviously there’s a few clubs linked, I’m told Leeds are one of them – not sure if it’s at an advanced stage or anything but it is definitely one Leeds are keeping an eye on.”

Aston Villa need to make their minds up about Louie Barry

It’s clear that Aston Villa need to make their minds up regarding the player.

If they’re unwilling or unable to give him a regular place amongst their first-team squad, then the sensible option would be to free him from his contract and allow him to choose his own destiny.

Farming him out on loan here, there and everywhere is clearly not good for his development, and should Leeds land him in January, that surely has to be the final time he’s on loan anywhere.
