In a recent post on X, journalist Florian Plettenberg mentioned that Liverpool are eyeing a move for Bayer 04 Leverkusen talent Jeremie Frimpong. It has been stated that the Reds are eager to acquire the services of the Dutch wide player as they look to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.
Frimpong has enjoyed a solid campaign at the German club as he has managed to produce a run of impressive displays on the right side of their midfield. The Dutch sensation has scored five goals and picked up 12 assists in 48 matches for Bayer Leverkusen this season across all fronts.
The 24-year-old has caught the eye at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.0 tackles, 0.6 clearances, 1.0 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the right flank after making 84% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Reds to land him on a cut-price deal in the upcoming transfer window.

Frimpong loves a tackle and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. He can strike the ball with power from long range and is a good dribbler as well.
The Dutch talent can even create some decent chances for his teammates in the final third. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-back if asked to do so by his manager. However, it remains to be seen whether Frimpong can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if Liverpool manage to bring him on board this summer.
We can expect the Dutchman to add more quality to Arne Slot’s squad. He is more than capable of fighting with Conor Bradley for a regular starting spot at Anfield next season.
At 24, Frimpong will only get better with each year. Thus, he would be an excellent option for the Merseyside club to consider in this summer transfer window.
