Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has spoken out on the availability of star defender Trent Alexander-Arnold to face Real Madrid this week.
Liverpool and Real are of course primed to lock horns in a little over 24 hours’ time.
In the buildup to the clash, much of the chatter has centered on the respective injury problems in the two squads, with the latter without the likes of Vinícius Jr, Dani Carvajal, Rodrygo, Éder Militão and Aurélien Tchouaméni for their trip to Merseyside.
Turning attentions towards Premier League leaders Liverpool, and the Reds, over recent weeks, have been unable to call on Alisson, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa and the aforementioned Alexander-Arnold.
After the latter of this group was spotted back in training earlier today, though, boss Slot was asked for an update on Alexander-Arnold’s status to face Real Madrid.
And the Dutch tactician went on to explain:
“Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the squad to face Real Madrid but he is not available to start. He can maybe play a few minutes. In an ideal world, he won’t.”
