Liverpool have reportedly held talks over the potential signing of Wolfsburg’s Algerian forward Mohamed Amoura, according to Sport Bild. The 24-year-old has emerged as a surprise target as Arne Slot’s side looks to bolster their attacking options ahead of the next Premier League season.
Despite Liverpool’s strong position at the top of the Premier League table, concerns about their attacking depth have surfaced. Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Diogo Jota have struggled to consistently find the net this season. Diaz has managed just three goals as a central forward, while Nunez and Jota have scored four and five respectively.
The lack of firepower has prompted Liverpool’s recruitment team to look for fresh attacking talent, with Amoura fitting the bill. According to Sport Bild, the Reds have already initiated talks regarding the Algerian’s availability. Amoura, currently on loan at Wolfsburg from Union SG, has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga this season.
In 18 starts, the versatile forward has registered eight goals and eight assists. His ability to operate across the frontline makes him an attractive proposition for Liverpool’s tactical flexibility under Slot.

Liverpool are not the only club monitoring Amoura. Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested in the Algerian international. However, the reported fee of around £33.4 million could be a stumbling block for the German side. Liverpool, with their Premier League financial muscle, are less likely to be deterred by the asking price.
Wolfsburg are expected to exercise their obligation to buy Amoura from Union SG at the end of the season. Yet, given his performances, the Bundesliga outfit may be open to selling him for a quick profit.
Liverpool’s success this season has partly been down to their remarkable injury-free run, but Arne Slot knows that luck won’t last forever. Adding Amoura could offer the squad depth and tactical variety.
“Amoura has gone under the radar, but Liverpool’s scouts have once again identified a player with strong underlying numbers,” Sport Bild reported.
With Mohamed Salah edging towards his thirties and uncertainty around other forwards’ form, bringing in a young, versatile attacker like Amoura aligns with Liverpool’s recruitment philosophy.
Liverpool’s recent 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby highlighted their need for more firepower. The game, marred by contentious refereeing decisions and red cards to Curtis Jones, Arne Slot, and a member of his backroom staff, exposed Liverpool’s bluntness in attack.
Despite maintaining a seven-point lead at the top of the table, the inability to break down Everton’s low block has reinforced the necessity of adding more goal-scoring options.
“Liverpool have lucked out massively in terms of injuries,” noted Sport Bild, “but Slot knows that fortune will run out eventually.”
From a Liverpool fan’s perspective, the potential signing of Mohamed Amoura is intriguing. While his name might not carry the star power of other targets, his numbers in the Bundesliga are promising. Eight goals and eight assists in just 18 starts reflect a player who can contribute both as a scorer and creator.
Liverpool’s recruitment success has often stemmed from unearthing hidden gems. Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson, and Gini Wijnaldum arrived at Anfield without major fanfare but became integral to the club’s success. Amoura could follow a similar trajectory.
The price tag of £33.4 million is reasonable by modern standards, particularly if Amoura continues his development. With Salah’s long-term future uncertain, securing a versatile, hard-working forward makes strategic sense.
The next few months will be pivotal. If Liverpool move swiftly, they may secure a player capable of providing the depth and dynamism needed to maintain their dominance.
