Arne Slot has schooled Pep Guardiola once again, which is yet another statement win for the Reds. This now means Liverpool have done the double over Manchester City for the first time since the 2015–2016 season. As the title suggests, Liverpool are now 11 points ahead of Arsenal, with this result not being the only win for the Reds this weekend. Arsenal’s home defeat to West Ham raises even more questions about their squad and title credentials. Arsenal failed to take advantage of Liverpool dropping points midweek, but they haven’t given them the same lifeline this time.

After a nervy couple of weeks, Liverpool dropped points against both Everton and Aston Villa while also facing a tough test at home against Wolves, and narrowly escaping. However, today’s result proves those setbacks can be left in the past, as Liverpool delivered not just a crucial win, but also a brilliant performance. The partnership of Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai won the game for Liverpool, with each of them leaving the match with a goal and an assist. It’s safe to say Salah is the favourite for the Ballon d’Or, as he now has 41 goal contributions in the Premier League in February. Szoboszlai’s role in this team is crucial, with the Hungarian playing up top with Curtis Jones as dual 10s. It’s clear that Szoboszlai gives everything for this team, as he collapsed to the floor after the final whistle and later admitted in a post-match interview that he was too tired to even hear the chants from the Liverpool fans. But this wasn’t the only duo that proved crucial for the Reds.

Is Alexander Isak the answer to Liverpool’s No.9 problem?

Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté were absolutely imperious once again today, standing strong against the dangerous threats of Jeremy Doku, Savinho, and Omar Marmoush. They had a huge task on their hands as Liverpool’s fullbacks struggled to contain them, with Jeremy Doku completing 15 dribbles today — the highest number recorded in the Premier League this season. The duo of Salah and Szoboszlai secured the win for Liverpool in the attacking department, while Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate were the ones who won it for them defensively. The two remain near faultless and deserve lots of the credit coming their way. Crucial performers like these are the reason Liverpool already has one hand in the Premier League title.

Redmen Reacts

While nothing is even seriously close to technically being done and dusted, a weekend that saw Arsenal lose at home to West Ham and Liverpool go to recent arch-rivals Man City and seamlessly dismiss them can’t help but fuel the belief that The Reds are heading towards Premier League glory.

Slot’s side looked completely at ease with every element of Sunday, a trait not always apparent in Liverpool sides.
