Leaders Liverpool beat Wolves 2-1 on Sunday to restore their seven-point lead over nearest rivals Arsenal in the Premier League title race. The Reds looked to be easing to a comfortable victory at Anfield to bounce back from their shock FA Cup exit at Plymouth and the midweek Merseyside derby chaos, with Luis Diaz bundling in his first goal of 2025 early on before Mohamed Salah doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Diaz was fouled by Jose Sa.

However, Wolves were much improved after the break and created a number of chances, with Liverpool failing to register a shot other than Salah seeing a second goal ruled out for offside as a second penalty award for Emmanuel Agbadou’s challenge on Diogo Jota was overturned. Matheus Cunha curled home a glorious effort with 23 minutes to play to set up a grandstand finish, but spirited Wolves could not find a late equaliser as Jarell Quansah made a crucial last-gasp intervention to deny new signing Marshall Munetsi.
