Luis Enrique Faces Criticism for Not Wanting Arsenal and Chelsea-Linked Player This Past Summer | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain might have secured a 1-0 victory over Girona FC in the opening league phase match of the UEFA Champions League. However, the capital club is criticized for failing to finish in the final third.

The Parisians had 26 total shots in the contest but couldn’t find the back of the net as their finishing was off. Nonetheless, the home side secured the win thanks to an error from Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

As a result, questions are being raised over the Ligue 1 side’s transfer strategy this past summer. PSG was linked to various strikers, such as Victor Osimhen, but opted not to pull the trigger on any deal.

RMC Sport Daniel Riolo went hard at Enrique for not improving the No. 9 position following the win over Girona.

“This summer, under Luis Enrique, you didn’t make any big signings because he wants to build with this young team over the next two to three years,” Riolo said on After Foot RMC (h/t Le10Sport). “He believes he can take them to the top of Europe because he’s a bit of a magician.

“He didn’t want Osimhen. He didn’t bring in any reinforcements, didn’t want to pursue Osimhen, and didn’t want PSG to get involved in complicated transfer negotiations. He just didn’t want to deal with any of it.”

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Chelsea are eyeing a January move for Osimhen, taking advantage of a break clause in his loan deal with Galatasaray.

Meanwhile, Arsenal expert Charlie Watts rules out the Gunners being in this race. In his latest Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside, he noted his skepticism of the North London side being involved in the Osimhen saga again.
