Though now in the twilight of his career, Luka Modric continues to make history for Real Madrid.
The Croatian has been the heartbeat of Los Blancos since he joined them from Tottenham, and has been central to much of their success under Carlo Ancelotti.
Now, he has cemented his place as a club legend with a new record. Named in the starting XI against Milan, it was his 99th outing in the Champions League in Real Madrid colours, overtaking former midfield partner Toni Kroos (98) as the midfielder with the most CL starts for the Spanish giants.
With the rest of the season still to go at the very least, he is almost certain to reach the 100 mark, joining the likes of Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo in the process.
