An unprecedented and historic fifth consecutive English championship eluded Pep Guardiola’s side, who look to end their 2024-25 home campaign by sending their supporters dreaming into the forthcoming season.
Man City are currently on a four-game winning streak at home in the Premier League, their longest such run this season. City have also won each of their seven previous top-flight home matches against Bournemouth.
Only Alexander Isak (seven) has scored more Premier League home goals in 2025 than Omar Marmoush, who has netted six times across eight appearances.
Coming into this season as favourites to win a fifth consecutive Premier League crown, the wheels spectacularly came off for Manchester City, with some even doubting they’d finish in the Champions League places at one stage. It seems that playing in the European Cup next term is a likely outcome now, but ending up as runners-up to Liverpool could be on the cards, with the former champions sitting three points behind Arsenal and three matches remaining. Under the leadership of Guardiola, they’ve never finished below third, and there’s every chance of that record being maintained. A top-six finish may be out of Bournemouth’s reach, with the Cherries seven points behind Nottingham Forest, who currently occupy that spot. But if the season finishes now, eighth represents their best-ever Premier League placement, with ninth under Eddie Howe in 2016/17 being their best overall performance to date.
Nathan Ake, according to City head coach Guardiola, is getting better, though he is expected to miss this game as he continues to recover from a foot injury. Rodri has an outside chance of featuring after missing a chunk of this season due to a knee injury.
Enes Unal (knee) and Ryan Christie, who has been dealing with a groin issue since the beginning of the season, are the only Bournemouth players unavailable for this contest. Both are expected to return for the 2025-26 campaign.
Bournemouth ended a 15-game losing streak against Manchester City in their last Premier League clash and will seek their first-ever league double over the dethroned champions.
