Manchester United have ‘made contact’ with Arsenal about signing England youth international Ayden Heaven, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
United face stiff competition to sign Heaven. Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt and Spanish giants Barcelona have also ‘made approaches’ for the English centre-back.
However, the Red Devils are leading the race for the 18-year-old and are confident of winning the race for the talented defender
Heaven was in attendance as United beat Rangers 2-1in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
United signed Chido Obi-Martin for free last summer from the Gunners. They may now snatch another youngster away from them.
The Red Devils have been bolstering their academy ranks by signing some of the brightest prospects from around the globe.
United recently signed Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone. They have also secured the services of highly-rated Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon. He will join the club in the summer.
Heaven’s scholarship deal ends in the summer, and Arsenal are struggling to convince him to sign a professional contract.
The Gunners have not given up on keeping the youngster but now face an uphill task to keep him beyond the summer.
Heaven joined the club in 2019 after leaving West Ham United. He was involved in the Gunners’ 2024 pre-season tour of the United States.
The youngster made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup fourth-round encounter with Preston North End this season.
Heaven was also in the matchday squad for the Premier League clashes with Tottenham Hotspur, Man United and Fulham.
The versatile English youngster is a good ball-playing defender who can dribble out from the back in tight situations and pick a pass. He is defensively solid.
He will probably not play for United’s first team immediately if he moves to Old Trafford, as manager Ruben Amorim has many defensive options.
Heaven is more likely to feature for the U21s, who need defensive reinforcements after conceding 20 goals in 11 Premier League 2 games this season.
