Manchester United are expected to part ways with one of their experienced midfielders at the end of the season.

The Red Devils are currently 13th in the table with 15 points. However, they are only four points behind Chelsea and Arsenal, who are in the top four.

United are still in the Champions League race and will be aiming to turn their fortunes around under manager Ruben Amorim.

Amorim is likely to demand signings of his own next year, which could coincide with multiple players heading for the exit door.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano now reports that United are expected to part ways with Christian Eriksen when his contract expires next summer.

No negotiations have taken place over a new deal. While Amorim’s opinion will be considered, Eriksen is most likely to leave the club.

United right to offload Eriksen next summer

The Dane has been one of the club’s best creative players this campaign. He has registered four goals and three assists from 13 games.

However, none of those goal contributions have come in the Premier League. His playing time is unlikely to improve going forward.

Amorim prefers to work with midfielders who can high-press opponents and have a tireless work rate.

This is something which Eriksen does not offer. He is no longer in the prime of his career and has been caught out of position many times in the past.

The former Inter Milan star is on a weekly salary of £150,000. Unless he accepts a huge pay cut, he is unlikely to stay with the Red Devils.

Eriksen may not want to stay. He could accept a significant cut on his wages at another club where he has guaranteed playing time.
