Manchester United reportedly have a golden opportunity to pull off a sensational swap deal involving Victor Osimhen and Rasmus Hojlund.
The Red Devils forked out £72 million to land the Danish striker in the summer of 2023 following his breakthrough at Atalanta. But after an encouraging first campaign at Old Trafford, the young bomber has been enduring a forgettable season by all means. He has only scored twice in the Premier League this term, but Ruben Amorim is somewhat forced to rely on his services amidst the lack of options upfront.
So needless to say, the Premier League giants will be looking to add some fire-power to their ranks come the summer. While the club has been linked with several profiles, Osimhen remains one of the most intriguing options. His countryman Oghenekaro Etebo goes on to hail him as the ‘best striker in the world’.
The 26-year-old remains on Napoli’s books, but has been forced to play his football at Galatasaray on loan this season after failing to secure a transfer to the Premier League last summer. His torn relationship with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis meant he risked an entire campaign on the sidelines, so it was either Istanbul or the stands for the Nigeria international.

Osimhen has been showcasing his credentials as a top-class striker once more this season, so he’s expected to seal a permanent transfer next summer, albeit his destination remains uncertain. Nevertheless a release clause of €75 million could facilitate his exit.
But according to Calciomercato, Man Utd would instead prefer to negotiate a transfer with Napoli, proposing Hojlund as a deal sweatener. The Italian source suggests the Red Devils are studying an offer worth €40 million in addition to the Dane’s services.
The former Atalanta man was a transfer target for Napoli before making the move to Carrington, but it remains to be seen if Antonio Conte would be interested in his services.
