Stefan Ortega Moreno has shone a positive light on a Manchester City resurgence this season, insisting that Pep Guardiola is “very willing” to find a solution to problems.

The Premier League champions remain in somewhat of a rut across competitions, winning just one match in their last 11 outings, succumbing to defeats that have severely impacted their hopes of silverware come the end of the season.

In the English top-flight, Pep Guardiola and his players have now dropped down to fifth and lie nine points behind leaders Liverpool, who also have a game in hand over their challengers for the crown at the top of the division.

It is a similar story in the UEFA Champions League too, with City now at serious risk of not making the last-16 in the competition, knowing that they must take points from an away trip to Paris Saint-Germain and a home meeting with Club Brugge next month.

Support from the Manchester City faithful remains in tact for the club’s legendary head coach, and from the viewpoint of the players, there remains a belief that he will be able to turn things around sooner rather than later.

Speaking during a new interview with Sky Sports in Germany, the Manchester City goalkeeper revealed that manager Pep Guardiola is “annoyed” by the ongoing situation at the club, but is “very willing” to find a solution to problems.

“He doesn’t like losing, but he is very willing to find a solution. Nobody can tell me that the coach who previously dominated all of England is suddenly too bad,” explained the 30-year-old this week.

“Perhaps he is looking for a solution a little more obsessively,” Ortega Moreno continued on the City head coach. “He is still close to being perfect all the time. I find him quite positive. He is really good to us. Also the charisma he has and the support he gives us.”

The Manchester City shot-stopper went on to insist on the importance of “all the injured players” coming back to “have our squad together”, before insisting that a resurgence this season may “even be worth a little more” than a trophy come the end of the campaign.

“If you get through this as a team and a club and pick yourself up as a team – also for yourself personally – it might even be worth a little more in the end than another title,” the Germany international said.

Manchester City return to action following a calamitous 1-2 home defeat to Manchester United this weekend, when they travel to face Aston Villa in the Premier League in the early lunchtime kick-off on Saturday afternoon.

Unai Emery’s side come into the match looking to return to winning ways themselves, having taken on a 2-1 away defeat against Nottingham Forest last time out as the club balances domestic and European commitments this campaign.
