For Manchester City all that matters right now is their next game. Pep Guardiola’s side is on a seven-game winless run and their focus is currently on their upcoming Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest that will take place at the Etihad on Wednesday evening. But as City continue preparations for that match last night, they have learned who will be their opponent in the third round of the FA Cup. Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to go one better than last season when they finished as runners-up in the FA Cup.
Manchester City’s FA Cup campaign will kick off against League Two side Salford City at the Etihad. The game will take place over the weekend of January 11, 2025, with the kickoff time and date of the fixture to be confirmed.
Salford City currently sit 15th in the League Two table. They are currently managed by Karl Robinson. The League Two signs are owned by a consortium of ex-Manchester United players. Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville are all involved in the club which has helped with their rise to League Two in recent seasons.
For Manchester City their third-round FA Cup tie will kick off their campaign to go one better than last season’s FA Cup campaign. Pep Guardiola’s made the final last season but were beaten by Manchester United at Wembley. They will eager to kick off that quest with a win over Salford City in January when their FA Cup campaign begins next month.
