Manchester United have advantage over Manchester City in race to sign Ederson

Manchester United have made “new contacts” for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, as per reports.
Ruben Amorim’s strong starting lineup against Chelsea painted a fairly good picture of how United would look against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.
One of Amorim’s most bold decisions was starting Casemiro alongside Bruno Fernandes in his midfield. Manuel Ugarte, meanwhile, was named on the bench. It wouldn’t surprise many if the Uruguayan isn’t part of the starting lineup in Bilbao as well.
Signed from Paris Saint-Germain, Ugarte has divided opinion among United supporters. His work ethic and athleticism is admired by many but the 24-year-old offers little with the ball at his feet, forcing Amorim to drop Fernandes deeper to progress the play.
Considering Casemiro’s age and Ugarte’s lack of technical prowess, a new well-rounded midfielder should be the club’s priority in the summer transfer window. It seems the Red Devils are already working on ticking that box.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, United are attempting to sign Ederson from Atalanta.
Earlier this month, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have reopened talks to sign the Brazilian.
Now, Pedulla claims there have been “new contacts” and there will be “others after the Europa League final.”
This suggests the Premier League giants are determined to get the deal over the line for the 25-year-old.
Ederson is known for his relentless style of play, impressive technique in possession, and powerful ball-striking. He has the energy to keep going up and down the pitch all the time.
It is added that United have the advantage in the race for his signature as they have made an approach before Manchester City and Juventus.
However, it is going to be difficult to agree terms with Atalanta, who are demanding at least €60 million (£50.5m) for their midfield dynamo.
