Manchester United are reportedly still keeping tabs on FC Barcelona centre back Andreas Christensen.
Barcelona have reportedly opened the door to potential offers for defenders Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia during the ongoing winter transfer window.
This shift comes as the Blaugrana manage an overcrowded defensive roster following their decision to reject Juventus’ interest in Ronald Araújo.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Red Devils are rumoured to have made contact regarding a possible move this month.
Barcelona’s financial struggles remain a key factor. Operating under the league’s 1-1 salary cap rule, the club must make strategic decisions to free up resources.
Selling either defender could create salary space for reinforcing other positions, particularly in attack.
Barça have reportedly explored options, including Man United’s Marcus Rashford, but securing such reinforcements would require savings of at least €6.5 million.
Christiansen would be a welcome addition to Rubem Amorim’s side.
United have been long admirers of the Danish centre back and would greatly benefit from his Premier League experience.
Having won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea in the 2020/21 season under Thomas Tuchel, Christensen has demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level.
His ability to read the game and initiate play from the back would enhance United’s defensive solidity and contribute to building attacks.
United, currently competing in the Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup, would benefit from Christensen’s addition, which would bring valuable depth and quality to their defensive unit.
A centre back is, however, not seen as a priority position to address this window, with United looking at wingback options in the market.
It is to be seen if the club decides to advance in this deal, whether it is a loan or a permanent move.
