Newcastle United having played fifteen matches in total (all competitions) so far this season.

Eight wins, three draws and four defeats.

A win at Selhurst Park would be a massive boost, after that three-match winning run ended on Monday against the Hammers.

Which brings us to Mark Lawrenson…

Mark Lawrenson talking about Newcastle United ahead of Saturday’s match at Crystal Palace:

“Newcastle lost to West Ham and Crystal Palace drew with Aston Villa last time.

“I fancy Newcastle to bounce back here though.

“Crystal Palace 1-2 Newcastle.”

Credit to Mark Lawrenson for going against the flow.

All of the other pundits that I’ve seen, have automatically decided Newcastle won’t win today at Selhurst Park, simply because of that defeat to West Ham.

However, the form in those three games/wins was really good and indeed. as Eddie Howe said, for the first hour or against West Ham, Newcastle played pretty well. By far the better team and creating the opportunities but just didn’t take their chances, whilst the Hammers did when those couple of opportunities came their way.

Also, the last eight matches (all competitions), Newcastle United have played well in their general play, starting from the very good 1-1 home display against Man City. Eddie Howe’s side have kept clean sheets in four of those last eight games and if doing the same today against a team who gave scored only three goals in six PL matches at Selhurst Park, then I think NUFC will win with at least one or two goals at the other end. As Mark Lawrenson predicts for United in attack.
