Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain’s latest Classique meeting began in fiery fashion but the tone was set before kick-off.
Home fans unveiled an impressive tifo at the Stade Vélodrome with a tribute to one of the enduring images in the fixture’s rich history.
Les Phocéens’ Fabrizio Ravanelli went nose to nose PSG rival Pierre Ducrocq during a particularly fiery meeting between the sides in 1997.
Ironically Ravanelli and Ducrocq later became teammates when they both represented Derby County during their Premier League era in the early 2000s.
But there clearly wasn’t any love lost between the sides as the hosts slipped to an eventual 3-0 defeat and were reduced to 10 men all before the interval.
