Marseille to confirm Ismaël Bennacer transfer after Champions League football secured | OneFootball

According to a report from Sacha Tavolieri, Olympique de Marseille have been convinced to trigger the option to make Ismaël Bennacer’s (27) loan from AC Milan permanent at the end of the season.

The French side have a €12 million option and have been impressed by the midfielder’s performances since he arrived in the January transfer window. However, before the club are willing to make it official, they will likely wait on one condition.

Tavolieri writes that Marseille should confirm the transfer once the club have qualified for Champions League football. Les Phocéens have been thick in the hunt for a return to Europe’s most prestigious competition and have spent much of the season in the runners-up spot behind league winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Results have begun to tail off in the final stretch of the campaign and their grip on second has slipped away, as Marseille have suffered five defeats in their last seven games. AS Monaco overtook them on the weekend when the two sides met at the Stade Louis II, as the Principality won 3-0.
