Inter Milan never really had to get out of second gear to beat Atalanta in the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal yesterday.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They praise a “mature” Nerazzurri display as they proved to be too much for La Dea.

Inter have reached the final of the Supercoppa Italiana for the fourth year in a row.

And the Nerazzurri did so via a fairly convincing performance.

Inter scored two goals in the second half of yesterday’s semifinal. Both came courtesy of wingback Denzel Dumfries.

Considering the string of outstanding saves that Atalanta keeper Marco Carnesecchi had to make, the Nerazzurri were hardly bad value for their two goals.

And then at the other end it was yet another clean sheet for Inter.

Nerazzurri keeper Yann Sommer was not exactly called into action constantly, unlike Carnesecchi.

In the view of Tuttosport, the most impressive aspect of Inter’s win was that they didn’t really have to push for it.

Playing against Atalanta is never easy, of course. The Nerazzurri had to work tirelessly in the high-tempo physical battle.

But in possession, Inter seemed to be going through the motions a bit.

The team looked so well-oiled that they were able to find big spaces in behind Atalanta by muscle memory.

For the rest of Inter’s rivals, the most worrying part could be the prospect of Inter pushing it up a level.
