Milan could retool their defense in January in both directions and would move quickly to add Kyle Walker if they catch wind that Marcus Rashford won’t join them. They expected an answer for him on Wednesday, but he’ll take more time to decide as Barcelona have opened talks with him and Manchester United, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Rossoneri envision the veteran more as a center-back than on the wing, where they already have Emerson Royal, Davide Calabria, and Alex Jimenez. There could be some movements in the middle. Fikayo Tomori isn’t a lock to stay. Juventus haven’t given up for him. Moreover, the brass could consider partying ways with Strahinja Pavlovic after just six months. He has completely fallen off the radar after an okay start. He could be sold if a team matched the fee he was acquired for last summer, €18M.
Milan will consult with Sergio Conceiçao about Walker and other possible moves soon. They could enter the busy race for Jonathan Tah if the gaffer wasn’t satisfied with the center-backs at this disposal. He has six months left on his contract. Barcelona are the frontrunners to land him gratis but haven’t sealed the deal.
The boss might push for a striker to use 4-4-2 more often.
The plan would be sketchy as playing as a center-back in Pep Guardiola is a different beast from doing so in Serie A. While they can always upgrade, although it might be too expensive to their liking, it’d be baffling if they offloaded Pavlovic already.
