Milan ultras protested during the 2-1 defeat to Bologna, but the response at the final whistle was more one of depressed surrender.
The fans have been raging at club owner Gerry Cardinale and the directors, including Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, throughout the campaign.
They already had a banner in the stands at the Stadio Dall’Ara at the start of tonight’s rescheduled Serie A Week 9 fixture that said it all: ‘Only for the shirt.’
This is a sign they were there just to cheer on Milan, not the players, coach or club owners who happen to be passing through right now.

The protest chants continued from the Curva Sud, urging players to “show some balls” and “you are a s**t team, we are sick to death of you” and “we’ve had enough.”
There was also the usual chant telling Cardinale to sell up and leave the club.
However, once that initial moment of rage had dissipated, La Gazzetta dello Sport note that the Milan ultras sat in total silence in their sector waiting to be allowed out.
The feeling was that the fans have given up on securing a top four finish now that they are in eighth position.
