Milan are considering making a run at Cristhian Mosquera, who’s having some trouble coming to terms with Valencia on a new contract. They have tested the waters in recent days but more for next June than for January, Relevo’s Mattia Moretto reported (via OneFootball).

The talks between the center-back and his side are stalling chiefly due to his future release clause. His entourage would like to set it at €25M. While Los Murcielagos would listen to offers of that caliber, they want to have more negotiating power. They turned down €20M from Atletico Madrid last summer.

Mosquera has attracted the interest of Milan and other big teams with his performances in the last season and change. He became a staple in 2023/2024, starring in 36 La Liga matches, after getting elevated from the youth system. He has five caps with Spain U-21.

The Rossoneri added Strahinja Pavlovic to the position during the past window. They have rotated all their men in the role. Matteo Gabbia has been the most trustworthy and should soon put pen to paper on a renewal until 2029.

Our Take on Milan and Mosquera

It’s normal to keep close tabs on every talent, especially those that can be signed for reasonable investments, but the center-back role is one of their smallest worries at this stage, as they have four good options. It’d be better for them if Fikayo Tomori and Pavlovic hit their stride given their financial weight and valuation in general, but Gabbia and Malick Thiaw have been dependable. They have much bigger urgencies and areas to address.
