Mohamed Salah offered his reaction to Tottenham’s Europa League final win over Manchester United as he praised Ange Postecoglou.

It had been 17 years since Spurs last won a trophy and they had not won a piece of European silverware since 1984, but those waits were ended in Bilbao.

Brennan Johnson scored a scrappy goal just before half-time and that was the winner, as United failed to response after the break in a largely low-quality affair.

Earlier this season, Postecoglou defiantly declared that he always wins a trophy in his second season in a job, words that could have been held against him, particularly with the context of a disastrous Premier League season.

Spurs sit 17th in the table heading into the final weekend of the campaign, but that will not matter one bit to the club’s fans.

Postecoglou once again has his trophy in a second season and Liverpool star Salah referenced that as he took to social media after the match.

Salah tweeted: “He did say he’d win in his second season. Congratulations!”

Postecoglou’s second-season record began in 1999 when he led South Melbourne to success in the Australian A-League and the Oceania Champions League.

That continued with Brisbane Roar and then the Asian Cup with the Australian national side, before Yokohama F. Marinos won the J-League title in Japan.

There were plenty more trophies at Celtic and Postecoglou has now ended Spurs’ long wait for silverware.
