“It’s massive, the change in the facilities and the quality, the support we get, you couldn’t even compare it,” said Holmes.
“Sometimes I don’t actually know how to describe what it was originally like because it feels like completely two parallels.
“I think it gives me a bit of an opportunity where I can savour it and appreciate it that little bit more because I knew what it was like 10 years ago when it was completely different to now. I just savour every moment.”

Captain of the side, Holmes spends large portions of her week at the club, across Tuesday sessions at Jersey Road and Wednesday and Friday night sessions at Bedfont Sports Club.
Coupled with that is Holmes’ full-time job, as well as coaching duties to help inspire the next generation of footballers coming through the ranks.
“On my day job, Monday to Friday, 9-5, I’m a finance business partner for a housing association, so I stare at excel spreadsheets and chat to people,” explained Holmes.
“Tuesday we’re at the gym [at Jersey Road] and then we’re doing any sessions with Ollie [Cottis] and stuff like that which is great.
“Wednesday straight from the office back home and then out to training. Thursday work again and then I actually coach, so coach from the ages of six to up to 11. I really enjoy that currently, I've been doing that for a couple of years.
“Friday night after work it’s straight into training, home nice and early. Then I’m back up Saturday morning to coach our all-girls session, which is kind of a new thing for me, but I’m really enjoying it.
“It just gives another element of trying to inspire the girls - coaching is just another way for me.”
Come matchday, Holmes has one thing in mind as she aims to lead her team-mates to another victory.
“Sunday we’re back to gameday. I chill in the morning and then focus on the game, get the win and go home happy," she said.
The Bees are back in action on Sunday as they welcome Sport London E Benfica to Bedfont Sports Club for a League Cup fixture, kicking off at 3pm.
They will then turn their attention to a home tie in the FA Cup third round against Fulham. Tickets are now available.
