Last week marked a much-needed return to form for AS Monaco as they beat Aston Villa and then Stade Rennais within the space of a few days. The latter win, however, came at a cost, with captain Denis Zakaria (28) coming off injured.
Zakaria was injured when winning the ball back, in a move that contributed to Monaco scoring their third goal against Les Rennais. The Swiss international was forced off immediately and left the Stade Louis II with a protective boot “as a precaution”.
Post-match, Adi Hütter was optimistic about the midfielder’s injury, stating that he would have an MRI but that he didn’t expect that test to reveal any serious injury. And so it has come to pass. Zakaria has travelled with Les Monégasques as they prepare to face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Hütter confirmed that the captain had travelled with the squad and that he is fit enough to start the encounter at the San Siro.
