AC Milan allowed Lorenzo Colombo to leave on loan this summer, but they could be left red-faced at the end of the season if he continues in his good form.

Although Colombo was expected to leave throughout the summer, he took part in Milan’s American tour and he made some good impressions bagging a brace against Manchester City. It got to a point where Paulo Fonseca was considering keeping him within the first team set-up with him asking for more time to evaluate him, as we reported exclusively.

However, the youngster still left the club, albeit on loan. However, with the rate of his current scoring, the deal may be made permanent at the end of the season. Included in the loan was a €7 million buy option, and with him scoring three goals in six appearances, that clause may be activated.

However, the Rossoneri may be left to regret their negotiations, with Matteo Moretto reporting for the Daily Briefing that there is no buyback clause in the deal or any sell-on percentage. Therefore, if Empoli activated the buy clause, the Diavolo would only receive the €7m with no future payments.

It remains to be seen whether he will continue on this path, but if he continues scoring at his current rate, €7m could be a bargain price.
