Napoli and Manchester United could arrange a mouth-watering swap deal in January involving Victor Osimhen and Marcus Rashford. According to recent reports in England, Ruben Amorim is keen on the Partenopei loanee after an underwhelming start to Old Trafford life.
Osimhen has no future at Napoli. He had hoped to leave the club permanently in the summer. However, a lack of tangible offers from Europe’s top clubs left his situation in Naples in limbo. Galatasaray came to the rescue in September.
Indeed, with the summer transfer window gone, Istanbul emerged as the only viable alternative for the Nigerian. But he has joined the Turkish powerhouse on a season-long loan. Since he’ll unlikely stay in the Super Lig beyond his loan spell, Napoli must find a definite solution.
Manchester United could help them offload their unsettled superstar. Like Osimhen, Rashford is no longer a popular figure at the Theatre of Dreams. On the contrary, the Red Devils homegrown star is desperate to cut short his life-long association with the 20-time Premier League champions.
Therefore, Napoli could leverage Rashford’s wobble in Manchester to part ways with Osimhen. It would be a win-win deal. The 27-year-old isn’t the only Red Devils misfit in Antonio Conte’s crosshairs. Indeed, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are also on the list.
Both players had been impressive in Serie A before joining Manchester United. Napoli could lure one of them back to Italy, but they’d have to find a way to meet their hefty wages. In the meantime, they’re keeping close tabs on outgoing Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini.
