Manchester United’s strikers have been very goal-shy this season with Rasmus Hojlund netting only twice while summer signing Joshua Zirkzee has fared even worse.

The Netherlands international scored on his debut against Fulham but that is as good as it got for the ex-Bologna ace as he has since missed a glut of glorious chances while only registering a couple of assists.

Former manager Erik ten Hag was supposedly not a huge fan of the 23-year-old while plenty of reports have already declared that Ruben Amorim wants the young forward gone.

There have been rumours of the Red Devils using the former Bayern Munich star as part of a swap deal to land a striker that Amorim wants.

Napoli say no to United swap deal request

It is no secret that the Portuguese tactician is a huge fan of Viktor Gyokeres but the Swede is not the only striker on the list with The Peoples Person recently relaying the club’s long-standing interest in Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has eight goals and four assists for the Turkish outfit in eight starts across all competitions and would be a great fit for Amorim’s system.

But as relayed by Eurosport, Napoli have no intention of agreeing to United’s swap deal requests and would prefer that any potential suitor pays the the 25-year-old’s full release clause which stands at €75 million.

The Naples outfit are not particularly interested in Zirkzee and are currently looking to strengthen at the back and thus, have already sent back United’s offer.

Amorim’s huge Zirkzee challenge

As for Zirkzee, his bad luck shows no signs of abating and he was recently dropped from the Dutch national team as well and his confidence seems to be shot to bits.

It will be a huge challenge for Amorim to try and bring the best out of the Dutch star. He does not seem to fit in with what the former Sporting coach really wants.

United are still hopeful that the 39-year-old can unleash the full potential of both the club strikers, just like he did with Gyokeres in Lisbon.

As previously relayed, the Old Trafford side currently have no interest in moving Zirkzee on so soon after spending big to land him.
