Which Newcastle United stars were contenders for a Premier League team of the month in April 2025?
United played six games during last month.
The NUFC players picking up five wins in their six Premier League matches, just the one defeat at Villa.
The five victories coming against Brentford, Man U, Palace, Leicester and Ipswich.

Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa) – 7.09
Aston Villa won four of their five matches in April and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez helped the Villans to clean sheets at Brighton and Southampton.
Kieran Trippier (Newcastle) – 7.46
Newcastle’s rampant form of late has coincided with a return to the starting XI for Kieran Trippier, who has now provided three assists in his last three Premier League matches for the Magpies.
James Tarkowski (Everton) – 7.40
Before being ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, Everton defender James Tarkowski helped the Toffees to a draw against Arsenal at the Emirates, and a win and clean sheet away to Champions League chasing Nottingham Forest.
Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – 7.26
In the month that Liverpool wrapped up the Premier League title, captain Virgil van Dijk makes our XI after imperious displays against Everton, West Ham, Leicester and Tottenham.
Ian Maatsen (Aston Villa) – 7.65
Three of Ian Maatsen’s seven Premier League starts this season came in April, and the 23-year-old took advantage of the opportunities afforded to him by Unai Emery, scoring in the win over Newcastle and providing an assist in the triumph over Nottingham Forest.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – 7.51
In the month that he announced his departure from Manchester City after a decade, Kevin De Bruyne return to form for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring and assisting in the thrilling 5-2 victory over Crystal Palace two weeks ago.
Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool) – 7.67
As he has been all season long, Alexis Mac Allister was crucial for Liverpool in April, scoring against both Fulham and Tottenham, while providing an assist against West Ham to help the Reds seal their 20th top-flight title.
Matheus Cunha (Wolves) – 8.17
With a WhoScored rating of 8.17, Wolves’ Matheus Cunha is our Premier League Player of the Month for April, after the Brazilian registered two goals and two assists in three games. With talk over his future heating up, Cunha contributed in wins over Tottenham and Leicester.
Jacob Murphy (Newcastle) – 7.76
In April, Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy eclipsed his best ever individual campaign for goals and assists, taking his tally to 19 in the Premier League this term (eight goals, 11 assists).
Omar Marmoush (Manchester City) – 7.39

Luis Diaz (Liverpool) – 7.90
A resounding return to form for Luis Diaz helped Liverpool get over the line in April, with the Colombian scoring or assisting in four of five league matches throughout the month.
