The name Neymar is once again on the lips of international football, and this time, MLS is right at the middle of it. With Messi and Suárez already shining for Inter Miami, there is an excited buzz backstage over the reunion of the iconic MSN trio. For now, playing for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Neymar hasn't ruled out the idea. He has left an enigmatic message which might indicate a possible change in his career.
The reunion everyone wants to see: When Neymar told CNN it would be "incredible" to play with Messi and Suárez again, worldwide fans were given enough reasons to dream. This trio, dominant during its days at Barcelona, had won titles and defined an era with an incomparable rapport between the three in the pitch and out of it. Seeing three legends reunite at Inter Miami would be a sight beyond soccer.
Inter owner Jorge Más made no secret of his desire to bring Neymar aboard. "Who wouldn't want a player of that caliber here?" , he said, underlining the club's ambition to attract top talent. Beckham, another of the team's owners, echoes the same sentiment, which further adds weight to the possibility.
For Neymar, MLS would mean something more than just a new challenge. At 32, after serious injuries and an unconvincing spell at Al-Hilal, a move to MLS might be the perfect mix: worldwide exposure and the opportunity to be the star of an ambitious project.
Inter Miami has already proven it can attract superstars and reshape the American league; the arrival of Messi has marked a point of change, bringing unprecedented attention toward MLS. With Neymar in the team, Inter Miami would seal its position among the most iconic clubs in the world, further stretching the influence of soccer in the United States.
For the club, signing Neymar would be a strategic coup. His global brand and charisma wouldn't just attract fans but also secure lucrative sponsorships and revenue streams. Besides, his established chemistry with Messi and Suárez would be a valuable asset on the field.
MLS has become an increasingly attractive destination for elite players who want to prolong their careers in a competitive but not as demanding setting. Neymar, with his creative flair and technical brilliance, would blend into the North American soccer scene, whereby his presence no doubt would raise the bar of the league.
A move to MLS could even help Neymar put behind him the tough period he had at Al-Hilal. After a season ruined by injuries, a move to the United States could be just what he needs to get his career back on track. Set amidst a more conducive environment, superior facilities, and lesser physical stress, MLS is just the place for him to rediscover his brilliance.
There are, however, challenges to be overcome. Jorge Más was diplomatic with his words regarding MLS's financial restrictions. Due to salary caps and roster rules, the inclusion of Neymar would require some creative finances and line-by-line negotiations.
The other reason is Neymar's contract with Al-Hilal until June 2025. Though rumors were that he might have his contract annulled, the Saudi club seems keen on holding onto him at least for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
A move by Neymar to Inter Miami would be monumental. Just think of Messi, Suárez, and Neymar sharing a team in one of the fastest-growing leagues in the world. It would be adding not only something to MLS in sporting credibility, but also a lot to the global viewership that would drive higher interest in soccer across the United States.
Broadcasts of Inter Miami games would become must-watch events, turning the club into a global powerhouse both on and off the field.
